Laoag City and Pinili – Outstanding Civil Registry Offices in the Philippines

            The National Statistics Office, in cooperation with the civil registry offices conducted the 3rd National Workshop on Civil Registration at the Garden Orchid Convention Center, Zamboanga City on August 8-10, 2006.  The workshop is conducted every two years.

 

One of the highlights of the workshop is the awarding of outstanding local civil registry offices.  The civil registry office of Laoag City, headed by City Civil Registrar Lilian Abijero ranked 3rd in 2005 in the entire Philippines under the large category.  This category has 206 civil registry offices in the country.

 

The civil registry office of Pinili, headed by Municipal Civil Registrar Ami Ruel Coloma, also garnered a national award (6th place) in 2005 under the extra small category which is composed of 687 civil registry offices.

 

On the other hand, top ten percent performing civil registry offices in each region were also selected.  Out of the thirteen awards in Region I, seven (7) positions were given to Ilocos Norte in 2004 while six (6) in 2005.  The following are the top performing civil registry offices from Ilocos Norte:

·        Bangui (2004 & 2005)

·        Banna (2005)

·        Burgos (2005)

·        Dingras (2004)

·        Laoag (2005)

·        Marcos (2004)

·        Nueva Era (2004)

·        Paoay (2005)

·        Pasuquin (2004)

·        Pinili (2004 & 2005)

 

The following are the criteria in the selection of outstanding civil registry offices:

 

1.      Documents submission (40%)

2.      Provincial Statistics Officer/OIC evaluation (10%)

3.      Compliance to CRD requirements (10%)

4.      Over and above activities (40%)
