Dear Tito and Nita,
First of all, I want to thank the Good Lord for giving Tito and Nita forty years of wedded bliss,
for guiding them to rise above life’s usual travails, and I congratulate them for all
they have accomplished over the years.
I don’t usually brag about my children, unless someone asks me sincerely how they are doing.
But this is the best opportunity to express my pride about my eldest son Tito and his lovely and loving wife,
Nita and their children. Nita has so many endearing qualities and I’m sure her large circle of friends and
the Ramiro and the Aliga clans all agree. She is exuberant, vibrant, vivacious, full of joie de vivre,
a bon vivant, cariñosa, a graciosa, loves life and enjoys it to the fullest, generous, hospitable,
life of every party with her jokes and humorous anecdotes, the “hostess with the mostest.”
I have described her in three languages, but my vocabulary is still inadequate to describe her accurately.
Nita did a good job of tempering discipline with love in dealing with their kids in their growing years,
probably due to her experience as a teacher. She gave up her teaching career to join Tito in Jakarta with
her kids and become a stay-at-home mom. On top of all of these, she is a loving and supportive wife and
knew how to stretch their finances during the lean years of their marriage.
Nita is a doting daughter-in-law. She graciously welcomes me to stay in their lovely home for several
months and even asks me to extend my visit. Other daughters-in-law would be eagerly waiting for their
in-laws to leave, the sooner, the better. I’m well provided for and taken care of; I have the best
bedroom in their house, adjacent to the backyard garden, and I get all the fresh air from the trees and
plants. She is indeed a jewel of a daughter-in-law, and I can’t ask for more.
I thank God for my thoughtful, caring, and loving son, Tito. He remains humble, unassuming, hard-working,
dependable, and has simple wants. His only luxury in life is playing tennis. He devoted his whole
working years in SGV and rose from the ranks to the top position, though he is now semi-retired.
He performed his job with dedication, commitment and integrity and was rewarded generously. Tito is a
loving, patient, sacrificing dad and husband, providing well for his family, with still some to spare for
me. Tito and Nita with the help of God have done a wonderful job of bringing up their kids and are now
reaping the fruits of their labors.
It is said that the success of a parent is measured by the kind of family they have raised. And so,
please allow me to talk about their 5 children who are doing very well, thank God. And they are a close
knit family with no ill feelings or rivalry with each other. All they exude is love and family unity.
Please forgive me for using superlatives because they deserve them. And by the way, all of them are UP
graduates, like their dad.
Alma the eldest, is an Industrial Engineer. She used to work in the Department of Energy and was one of
the right hand men of Sec. Viray until she got married to Peter Kort. So her career is now on hold while
she devotes all her time being a mother to their three girls—Kei, 7; Janelle 4 ½; and Megan, 1 year old.
Peter has an MBA from the University of Rochester in New York and is an executive of Chevron,
a multi-national oil company. Alma manages to care for her family without house help and does not seem
frazzled at all. They are now based in London.
Grace graduated cum laude in Business, and I’m proud to say she is one lucky girl who has it all
because she has combined a great career, motherhood and wife to Lyndon Saulog. She holds a powerful
position at BPI. Lyndon is also a graduate in Business Administration and is a high caliber investment
broker. They have three kids: Angeli, 11 ½; Jojo, 9; and RG, 7. They live in Alabang Hills.
Jane has a bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Guidance Counseling, but she has opted
to be a teacher like her mom. I’m amazed that she chose that career considering that teaching kids is
a demanding job especially in the US. Teachers don’t just teach academic subjects, they also have to be
disciplinarians, but Jane loves her job. She is also very active with various choirs, one of which
traveled to Austria for a singing tour. She is married to Ernivic Caparroso, also a UP graduate and
works at Bloomberg Financial as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst. They are based in New Jersey.
Elaine graduated in Interior Design and works with Periquet Galicia and Co. Elaine is a busy bee as her
office handles mostly affluent clients and also big projects in the high rise residences at Makati and
Fort Bonifacio. She is still a bachelorette and enjoys a life free from family responsibilities.
She is also a member of two choirs (Hangad and the Ateneo Chamber Singers) which perform all over the
world at times, and they also sing at weddings and other parties and occasions as needed.
Vernon, the youngest and only son is a Mechanical Engineer, like his dad. He went through high school
and college through government scholarships. He went to Philippine Science HS, and then went to UP as
a full Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST) scholar. He is still a bachelor. He has worked for
Hewlett-Packard since graduation in 2004, and has risen in responsibility.
In closing, I want to reiterate my congratulations to you both, Tito and Nita, for a job well done
together as parents and for your awesome accomplishments all these 40 years. And I want to say
THANK YOU for having me in your happy home. Now all I do is relax and meditate, and bask in the
reflected glory of your family’s success.
I enjoy your love and hospitality and I pray you will reap your reward from heaven and from your
children, that they love you and care for you the way you do for me. I also pray to God for His
continued blessings and guidance in all your endeavors, to grant you good health above all, happiness,
prosperity and many more years together, to love and cherish and take good care of each other.
Love,
Mommy Floring
