Dear Tito & Nita,


As you celebrate your 40th Wedding Anniversary today, Nick and I together with Nick-nick (same age as Alma), Maripaz (same as Grace), Roland (Jane) and Deanna Marie (Vernon) rejoice with you, just as Daddy, Mommy and Manong, from wherever they are now, must be sharing our  joy over the happiness and success of their  bunso.
Nita, you were only l0 months old when Daddy left that you became Mommy's apple of her eye.  Not bearing to have you leave her, she made you stay in Laoag in the premier teacher training school, much to your resistance since you would have wanted to come to UP  (as if  UP were  the be-all!), just like Manong and me, you having been the best in Math and Physics  among us three siblings.
 
But look at you now, your five children are all UP graduates, just like their Dad. I would like to believe that their mother's heart was their first school room!
How you met Tito is itself a story to tell.   One summer vacation after your graduation, while you were then cleaning the yard in front of the house, there was Tito, with company, coming to invite Vintar belles for a picnic in Bacarra.  And the rest is history.
At first, we were skeptical how the Junior of the famous Dr. Aliga of Bacarra would adjust to the simple living in Vintar, how wrong we were.  With Tito, you can serve him marunggay and sabong ti karabasa and ayos na .  He is one who can walk with paupers as well as with kings, so to speak.  He is good not only to my darling sister--he will detour to Laoag to buy her favorite artem nga balayang!--but also to the whole world!
Not so many know, however, that you have as much passion for work, that you can wash and iron the clothes and cook and bake the whole day, with as much flair as you have with your diamonds and pearls, and that in everything you do, you make it better  than when you found it. That, my dear, is what you call success!  Ye shall know them by their fruits!
Thank you for being the surrogate parents of our kids in Manila. Thank you for all your love. We can only remember something we read somewhere, and we quote:
Our family Is a unit of  trength and love.
With every birth and every union,
The circle grows.  Every joy shared adds more love;
Every crisis faced together makes
The circle stronger.
Today, on your milestone, we have three wishes:
GOOD HEALTH!
LASTING WEALTH!
A LONG LINE!
